“Just Say Yes” and “No such word as can’t” (To hear the story of how Fran broke the fastest talking record see Fran’s “World Record Mindset” Tedx Talk)

Quick Facts: The normal person speaks about 195 worlds per minute, Fran speaks almost 4 times faster than the average person.

In fact Fran is listed in the pop culture app wordgenius.com as the very definition of Loquacious.

Dubbed “Fast Talker Extraordinaire” by the Associated Press, comedienne Fran Capo doesn’t mind if you call her motor mouth. In fact, she’s proud of it! Fran Capo is The Guinness Book of World Records fastest talking female clocked at 603.32 words in 54.2 seconds. That’s 11 words a second! Her record also appears in Ripley’s Believe it or Not – 2006 Planet Eccentric book (on page 109). (Ya think she looked?)

A native New Yorker, Fran was always a fast talker, but she never planned on breaking the record…and no she didn’t come from a large family where she had to fight over the food. She does however have one sister, Sharon, who speaks three languages slow. So naturally Fran figured why not speak one fast language fast to make up for the difference.

Fran broke the fast talking record twice (why stop if you have a good thing going?). The first time she broke it on the Larry King Live Show on March 5th 1986 speaking 585 wpm, and the second time at the Guinness Museum in Vegas speaking 603.32 words per minute in 54.2 seconds. How did she do it? You can either read about it in Chicken Soup for the Woman’s soup on page 82, or you can listen to her TEDx talk or here.
