Fran Capo speaks very quickly, so much so that she once held the Guinness World Record for fast talking. In a video that’s going viral on YouTube, the motivational speaker and stand-up comic from Putnam Valley, N.Y., can be seen unleashing her unique talent upon unsuspecting New Yorkers.
A cashier in a deli appears confused as Capo rapidly reads through menu offerings, while two men in a park seem bemused as she sits between them and starts speaking in her trademark style.
Also in the video, Capo recites the story of “The Three Little Pigs,” from beginning to end, in just thirteen seconds.
In an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, Capo — speaking far more slowly than she did in the video — said she was delighted people were responding well to it.
“I love it,” she said.
Capo describes herself as an adventurer. On her website, she details her around-the-world exploits, which includes a book-signing on Mount Kilimanjaro, diving with sharks and visiting the wreck of the Titanic.
She’s also an author with more than fifteen titles under her belt, including the e-book “Hopeville: The City of Light.”
Capo said the video was filmed two years ago, and grew out of an idea that she had to perform several sketches to show what she could do.
Capo set the Guinness World Record for the fastest talker during an appearance on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on March 5, 1986. At that time, she spoke 585 words per minute. The record has since been broken.
She hopes the video’s popularity — it had been seen more than 400,000 times as of late Thursday after being posted to YouTube on July 6 — will bring her other opportunities to showcase her talent.
“I love doing two things in life — besides my family, you know — but the two main things in life is making people laugh and motivating them to go after their dreams and if this leads to me getting some kind of reality show where I can do that … if I could just do that and know that I am helping people worldwide that is what I love to do,” she said.
